Devices & how many can connect

Approving a till, setting an end date, removing access, and what your plan's device limit means.

Once you run more than one computer, two things decide what can connect: your approval, and how many computers your plan allows. They are separate, and this page covers both.

This is the access-control side. For the cables, Wi-Fi and addresses, read Connect terminals, tablets and phones first.

Nothing connects until you say so

When a new device opens your shop's address, it does not get in. It lands on a waiting screen and appears in Settings → Devices on the Main PC as a pending request. Until you approve it, it cannot reach the login page, let alone your sales.

To approve one:

  1. On the Main PC, open Settings → Devices.
  2. Find the pending device. It shows the machine it came from and when it asked.
  3. Press Approve.

The till can then sign in as normal. Staff still need their own accounts. Approving a device says this machine may talk to my shop, not this person may sell.

The Main PC approves itself

The computer holding the data approves itself automatically and cannot be removed. That is deliberate: it is the machine the shop's data lives on, and revoking it would leave nobody able to approve anything else.

Access until a date

When approving, you can set an access-until date. The device works normally up to and including that day, then stops. It is meant for the obvious cases: a rented tablet, a stall you run for one week, a temporary counter over a busy season.

The date shown is the last day the device works, not the day it stops.

Removing a device

Press Remove access next to any device in Settings → Devices. It takes effect within about a minute, even if that till is sitting on a screen and nobody touches it. It signs itself out and returns to the waiting screen.

Nothing is lost by removing a device. Sales it already rang up stay exactly where they are; they live on the Main PC, not on the till. If you approve it again later it picks up where it was.

How many computers your plan allows

Your licence sets how many computers may be approved at once. The Main PC counts as one, so a 3-computer plan means the Main PC plus two tills.

  • When you are at the limit, approving a new device is refused and the screen tells you the

number in use. Remove a device you no longer need, or ask us to raise the limit.

  • Lowering a plan never knocks a working till offline. Devices already approved keep working;

only the next new one is refused. Nobody is cut off mid-trade because a plan changed.

  • Tablets and phones using a browser count the same as an installed till. It is one device, one

seat, whatever it runs.

If you need another counter, contact us and we can raise the limit on your licence, and you do not need to reinstall or set anything up again.

Common questions

A till says it is waiting for approval and I already approved it. Approve on the Main PC, and check you approved the right row: a device that has been reinstalled or had its browser data cleared appears as a new request.

A till stopped working overnight. Check its access-until date in Settings → Devices, then check the Main PC is switched on with the app open. A till holds no data of its own; if the Main PC is off, nothing else can sell.

Can somebody on my Wi-Fi see my sales? Not without being approved by you and having a staff account with a password. Being on the network is not enough on its own.
